Brooch Addiction

I have found lately, that I am immensely drawn to all the cute little brooches on Etsy. I feel an addiction coming on.... You can find all these in my favourites, but I'm putting them here as well :)

Top left to bottom right: Felt and Cotton Fabric Flower Brooch, by Whimsy House; Colorful Brooch in Pink and Turquoise, by FromHollandWithLove; It's a brooch, no it's a pendant; by lwhelan; Reproduction Vintage Flower Brooch, by LilyBeFunky.

I love the bright colours of all of these brooches....LilyBeFunky's brooch is the one that started this obsession actually - I found her through Chat :)

Top left to bottom right: White Orchid Brooch, by lupin; Recycled silk and demin corsage, by clothcat; Brassbird Brooch, by ShereDesign; Large white sakura brooch, by cremetangerine.

I think my sudden obsession with them stems from the fact that they go with pretty much anything....and they can change any outfit up - they are the perfect accessory, especially for the soon to come summer time!

A Little Shopping Spree!

I just want to pop in to say hello, tomorrow I should have a new feature, and by the end of the week - it should be regular posts: because my finals will be done then...woo hoo!

Anyways, I had a little shopping mishap last night. It wasn't a "bad" mishap, but I went on a little shopping spree :) There were some awesome SNS (Saturday Night Specials) going on, that I just had to! I got some custom magnets from kittycrossbones and some cute ponytail holders from jackandjane :) I'm so excited to get them! :)

Inspiring Music: El Tango De Roxanne

I'm not sure if this can really be considered "inspirational"... but I've been playing it over and over again while I've been creating, so I consider if inspirational. It's funny when and how a creative urge comes - and tonight, it's this song. I love the Moulin Rouge movie though, so I'm sure that has something to do with it :).

Etsy Love: LaurenAlexander

So, it's been a while since I've really written in this dear blog of mine - but it's that time of year again - the time when students don't really have a life; final examination time. Anywho, I've found a little time today, and so I'm going to post about an artist who I've recently found on Etsy, LaurenAlexander.

Lauren uses watercolors in an amazing whimsical way, layering them and in doing so, capturing the translucent properties of the medium so perfectly!

I would have to say that out of all of them, her Goldfish would have to be my favourite - just because of the warm colours of the fish contrast so well with the cooler colours of its surroundings; and you can feel so much motion and life in the piece! Truly, a unique, wonderful artist!

In a couple hours I will be going to the printers to see how the large prints turn out...the fate of the large prints rest on this moment....fingers crossed.

Larger Prints....Maybe

So this isn't for sure....but I might be getting larger prints for my Jellybeans store. Before the fireworks go off, I'm just researching this right now, so I'm not sure yet if it's a go...but if it is; then they'll most likely be 10 x 15" (standard size). I'm also looking at shipping options and costs as well. And I'm not sure yet if they'll be open or limited edition prints

Some magic came my way, and made this option potentially possible. And I know that larger prints have been requested before, and I haven't been able to fulfill.

....so maybe possibly...well have to see :) (fingers crossed)

Busy night...

It's been a busy night, full of homework and the like. But I decided to take a small break...and I ended up carving two little apple stamps out of easy cut lino...and I stamped them all pretty on some natural toned paper and a brown envelope (100% recycled :)... and also by updating my blog, I'm having some time off from studying :)

These won't be up for awhile, I have to make more so that I can post a nice pretty set. As of this moment, this poor little card is all alone.

Inspiring Music: "Anyone else but you" - The Moldy Peaches

I watch Juno a couple nights ago, and I feel in love with this song....I love other songs in the movie too, that will probably get posted in this blog. But I promised myself, just one song at a time. Enjoy! (Press Play to start it).

Etsy Love: cathynichols

Today I'm featuring the artworks of Cathy Nichols. Her paintings are so pretty and so bright and colourful, and perfect for spring! She works with mixed media - a style / method that I really enjoy, and am personally experimenting in myself! I personally find that mixed media pieces have so much interest in them, because of all the varying and contrasting textures, patterns and materials.

From top left to bottom right: Sanctuary, Print; Sunny Morning, Print; Duet, Print; Out on a Limb, Print.

Her store is simply wonderful, you must give it a look! And her banner (for those on Etsy), is just amazing!

Breast Cancer Awarness!

I'm going to be listing a new painting tomorrow, "The Hope Tree" - I just didn't want to until I was able to get a scan to tell everyone about it. As you can tell from the picture here, the digital camera just couldn't do the job this time.

I did this painting to help my roommate, Sarah, raise money for Breast Cancer research. I've already personally donated, but I thought that this painting not only would help raise funds, but it would also raise awareness to all those who see it! All proceeds of this painting is going to her and her team so that they can walk in "The Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting the The Princess Margaret Hospital" in Toronto Ontario. You can see her page, and her personal and team progress here: Click me! Her team is called "Lawlor's Chaos". You can also read about her personal story and why she chooses to walk. As well, for those Facebook junkies - Sarah has a facebook group that you can join: here.

Limited edition prints will also be made from this painting. This is the first time that I'm doing a limited edition set, as well as the first time I'm conducting a sort of fundraiser. All prints will be signed and numbered. I'm not sure yet how many I will be doing, but I'm thinking along the lines of 50. I will also be making cards out of them, and selling them in sets of 4. These cards will not be limited edition.

Sarah walks on September 5-7th, so we have until then to raise enough money to help her team walk - if not more! It is definitely going to a great cause. I will be tracking the progress of how much money is raised through this painting, and how much money Sarah has raised, as well as her team as a whole on the right side of my blog. Check back often!

On one last note, I just want to point out and emphasis (so that there's no confusion)...this is not directly affiliated with the Princess Margaret Hospital or and affiliates of the Breast Cancer Research / Fund raising team.

Pounce Feature of the Week: INOMI

Every week I feature a new seller from Etsy, that I found with thier Pounce feature. This week, it is INOMI from Toyko.

From left to right: Baby Bunny Softie, Gray; Mitsubachi Boy.

I came accross her cute little plushies, and I knew I had to feature them this week! Don't you just want to give them some love?!

New Items!!!

Tree Linocut Postcards

I just posted these little dearies in my artbyangie store, they're perfect for letters to penpals, and for little notes to friends! They come with envelopes, so there's no need to worry about them getting wrecked in the mail. If you want to send them without an envelope in the mail, they're stiff enough for that too! Come give them some love! ♥ Angie

School School, almost done!

So, I'm graduating from University this year....April 25th at 5pm is the exact date and time that I will be done (not including the graduation ceremonies, but there's no studying or "school work" for that lol). It's exciting, but scary! I will b a lot of hard work for a jumble of words, isn't it funny how that all works out? hehe

As my next plan of action, I applied to college for Radiology...so really, I'm not done school...As of now, I'm accepted to Cambrian college in Sudbury; and I'm wait listed for my first choice of school: Fanshawe College in London. Fingers crossed that I get to stay in London, but if not - then I'm packing it up to the big Nickle (where my parents live, and will probably provide food and delicious home cooked meals on weekends when I visit them).

It'll be another three years, but only 1.5 of those years will be "in-class"; the rest, I'll be in the clinics playing with the technology....not playing, learning. But I hope I enjoy it so much that it doesn't seem like work.....now you are all scared to get x-rays for fear that I'll be the one doing them in 3 years lol. The Con: I'm away from my boy....sigh....just gotta cross fingers I get into London.

Etsy Love: PrettyRaccoon

Simply put, I love PrettyRaccoon! Her clothes are always very unique and definitely wearable at any occasion - casual or formal; it just depends on how you wear them!

From top left to bottom right: Chandelier one shoulder, yellow; Ship boat print tshirt, Sea blue; Seagull top shirt, deep red; Tree print green tie top, Forest green and heather gray.

I found pretty raccoon many moons ago when a fuchsia shirt with puffy sleeves caught my eye. That shirt has long since been purchased, but I still check up on her store on a regular basis to see all the new goodies that she has.

Even better, PrettyRaccoon is based in Toronto, Ontario - a fellow Canadian (I love finding Canadians on Etsy, it's like finding a little bit of family). PrettyRaccoon carries clothing for women and men, as well as some staple accessories; such as scarfs and totes.

Etsy Feature: marmar

Today I'm featuring lovely jewelry and silver / enamel creator Mark Poulin, owner of the Etsy shop marmar. His silver jewelry is adorable, and his enamel pieces are truly one of kind.

It's hard to decide on four pieces to showcase, but Spouts, his silver necklace of a cute little whale, was my favourite from his shop, hands down!

From top left to bottom right: Spouts, sterling silver necklace; Robin and Orange, sterling silver and enamel set; Sunny Daisy Earrings, sterling silver and enamel; and Love Nut, sterling silver enamel.

The Love Nut and Robin and Orange pieces are actually reversible too!! So it's two pieces in one, how awesome is that? Love Nut actually has a cute little alien on the other side!

Inspiring Music: "New Soul" - Yael Naim

So I thought I would add a new "component" to my blog - inspiring music. I know this song has been plastered over the television because of the new, snazzy 'Mac air'...but I don't care, I still like it! (I even loved Fiest - but I know of her before mac used her). I must say, that Mac has a great taste in music; I like the music from Telus' commercials too. But anyways, here's her wonderful song....it makes me want to paint :) Enjoy!

Pounce Feature: LenaKotliarker

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but I thought that I'd start of this week with my Pounce Feature! This week, I'm featuring Etsy artist Elena Kotliarker, from Israel!

The colour in her whimsical paintings caught my eye, and so I have favourited her this weekend to feature her this week! She uses an encaustic method in her painting, where she puts down layers of wax and paint together to create original, and beautiful pieces of art.

Seen here are her paintings (top left to bottom right): Jordan River, The Flower Glade (detail), Blue Butterflies (detail), Alef-Bet.

Her lovely paintings are sure to light up any room!
