Jane Austin Etsy Finds

I love reading, and recently I have decided to take on the task of reading all of Jane Austin's books. I really enjoy reading about the time period that her stories begin in. I'm also a sucker for a good romance story.

I noticed first was that her style of writing is different, and I had to slow down my regular reading pace to understand fully. I started with Pride and Prejudice, since I had seen the movie so I could follow the generally trend of the book more easily. Now I'm onto Persuasion. I have to say that I'm already liking this one more than the last, and my reading pace is almost back to normal. Reading them all in sequence I think will help me appreciate them more, since I'll understand them better.

Anyways, I thought I would browse Etsy for some related finds.

Roots

I wanted to create a piece this year for Earth Day (April 22). I felt that we're all connected to the Earth in various ways, like the roots of a tree grows and integrates itself with the ground. So, we have to keep the earth healthy and happy to keep ourselves healthy and happy. And why shouldn't we treat the earth to some love - it gives us so much back!

I thought that the roots would be the most difficult to convey, but they ended up being the most fun part of this particular piece. The roots just effortlessly flowed and I didn't have to 'fight' with my paint brush to make it go certain ways. It was actually quite an organic moment.

You'll probably be seeing this painting in my blog again come Earth Day :)

Blog Redesign

I know winter is still here. And I'm okay with that - I like to snowboard and skate in the winter. But, I can't deny that I love the colour and smells that spring brings. So, I thought I would add some colour to my blog early.

Hope you all like it :o)

New Pocket Mirrors

I have added the last two designs of this round of pocket mirrors:

I had wanted to list them sooner, but my new apartment does not allow for such generous lighting conditions as my last one did. Sometimes it's too sunny, not sunny enough. So I wait, and wait and wait some more to take pictures. Now I can understand how my dad felt always waiting on the weather (he's a farmer).

There are limited quantities of each of these (10 each), so get them before they're gone! :)

Florals are in!

Floral is in style this season, and what a better way to capture them than on cute stationery that you can share with everyone!

These are like spring in a card. How much better does it get when Winter is just starting to seem like it's carrying on just a little too long...

These cards are perfect for notes to pen-pals, love letters, thank you notes and for sending to friends just to say hi. Or, frame them - they are print quality :)

Got to love the sparkle

I've had this dress in my favourites for quite some time - it is so cute and pretty and sparkly - and thus, perfect!

Best of all, it would go great with these new shoes I've recently purchased. Yes, that's a chrome heel, mrawr. What can I say, a girl and her shoes - you just can get in between a love like that ;)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love these vintage valentine's!

Wishing everyone a happy Valentine's Day! I know, it's quiet the commercial holiday, but I always felt that it is what you make it. It's a day to look back on your time with your loved one - whether it's a romantic partner, spouse, sibling or friend.

I won't lie...I love the candies that come out - the cinnamon hearts and the conversation hearts; yummy! But I always make my cards, so it's a chance to be creative. And my hunny and I have gotten into the ritual of making dinner for each other :)

Wherever you are, and whoever your Valentine is (and it doesn't have to be romantic, like so many think lol)...have a good Valentine's Day! And if anything, pig out on all the great candies out there before they're tucked away for another year :)

Clovers

I just completed a new painting this week, Clovers. It's sort of botanical-like, without the immense detail that those amazing artists achieve in their pieces. I included the blossom of a clover plant, since it is so often forgotten in favor of four-leaf clovers. It's now available for sale in my shop. I'm thinking I might make a card set out of it...I'll have to ponder it more :)

Memories Print

A new print in my Etsy store, is 'Memories.' It's a different take on my usual painting style. I painted this on a whim, and let is just flow onto the paper - the paint took a live of its own to create the background.
