Purple Clovers

I had purchased this darling plant for St. Patrick's Day. I was meaning to share it sooner with you, but with all the weird shifts I'm working at the hospital for my clinical placement, there's some weeks where I just don't get the right light for photography. Enjoy :)

Watercolor Sketchbook

This weeks watercolor sketchbook painting gave me some relief from the school books - studying...sigh.

I think my favourite part of this one would have to be the barn / shed. The paper buckled quite abit on this one. But I had been using very watered down paint for the clouds, and it just kept building up...and well, buckles came out of it. No worries though, it's a sketchbook for a reason :)

Watercolor Sketchbook

I purchased a watercolor sketchbook a few weeks back. It has gloriously thick, textured watercolor paper.

I'm hoping to use it to practice different techniques, experiment with the medium..and just let loose in terms of painting, without having to use up more expensive watercolor paper (that I use for my other paintings).

This is the first 'sketch' I've done. I've been really wanting to explore making clouds more.

Spring Earrings

It's beautiful outside and all spring like.

These would be the perfect compliment to the weather - I want to carrying spring right inside with me, even if it's on my ears.

Morning Dew

Soon we'll be graced with dew all over green leaves.
Morning Dew - Watercolour painting

I've always loved waking up to the tiny orbs of sparkling light all over the lawn. It always looks like there's hidden diamonds...soon I'll be able to see them again on my early morning walks to work :)

Sunny Days

The first round of sunny days have been gracing me this week. It's been so nice out that I've been able to walk to work each day :) - It's also still beautifully mild out when I walk home at 8 pm.

Coin Necklace Yellow - marievan

This necklace by marievan on Etsy completely describes this week: a beautiful bright sun with an odd fluffy white cloud here and there.

Now back to the books, and soon off to work!

Encaustic Paintings Feature

I have recently discovered encaustic paintings on Etsy, and I love them :) It is such an interesting medium, and I have been debating a while about trying it out myself. Unfortunately, with clinical at the hospital all the time, time to experience with a brand new medium is rare and the start up supplies would cost a little bit.

Until then, I will just have to admire others creations:

Jane Austin Etsy Finds

I love reading, and recently I have decided to take on the task of reading all of Jane Austin's books. I really enjoy reading about the time period that her stories begin in. I'm also a sucker for a good romance story.

I noticed first was that her style of writing is different, and I had to slow down my regular reading pace to understand fully. I started with Pride and Prejudice, since I had seen the movie so I could follow the generally trend of the book more easily. Now I'm onto Persuasion. I have to say that I'm already liking this one more than the last, and my reading pace is almost back to normal. Reading them all in sequence I think will help me appreciate them more, since I'll understand them better.

Anyways, I thought I would browse Etsy for some related finds.

Roots

I wanted to create a piece this year for Earth Day (April 22). I felt that we're all connected to the Earth in various ways, like the roots of a tree grows and integrates itself with the ground. So, we have to keep the earth healthy and happy to keep ourselves healthy and happy. And why shouldn't we treat the earth to some love - it gives us so much back!

I thought that the roots would be the most difficult to convey, but they ended up being the most fun part of this particular piece. The roots just effortlessly flowed and I didn't have to 'fight' with my paint brush to make it go certain ways. It was actually quite an organic moment.

You'll probably be seeing this painting in my blog again come Earth Day :)
