Wonderful Sites

So I was slightly bored at work....just looking for something to keep me interrested for a little while, and I came across StumbleUpon.

It's this amazing service, that allows you to randomly stumble upon sites that fit a profile that you have created....warning though: it's slightly addictive. And by slightly, I mean very.

Here's some that I have "Stumbled Upon":

Sketch Swap: You draw a quick doodle, sumbit, and recieve on in return....pretty niffty I would say!

Breathing Earth: Provides an interactive flash map of the world, with statical data about in how much time someone is born, dies, and of course, Cardon Dioixde emissions. Turns out, one person is born only every 9.8 hours in Greenland, compared to everyone 1.8 seconds in China....how's that for random knowledge!

Flicker Related Tag Browser
: Allows you to search through Flickr with tags in a very pretty environment.

Senses Quiz: this is a cool quiz about your sense, be careful, some of the questions are pretty tricksy!

Well, that's about all for now....I guess I'd better get back to work :(

Etsy Feature: KPFiberArts

I stumbled across this gorgeous fiber artist last week, and I just had to post a feature about her yarn - it's just so colourful, and definitely delicious!
K.P Fiber Arts is an online store hosted on Etsy, which carries beautiful handspun yarns. It is run by Nicole from Falmouth, MA . She has been spinning for 2 years. In her yarns she uses fine grade merino wool and merino/silk blends. She also includes beads woven into some of her yarns.

Nicole has only recently started selling online at Etsy, but she has been selling regularly in craft shows in the MA area.

One of her upcoming shows is at the Cotuit Arts and Crafts Festival, August 18th, at Cotuit Village Green, Cotuit MA. So you can check out her beautiful work there, or stop by her online store.

Etsy Feature: Joan Theodore

Today's feature is artist Joan Theodore from South Florida. Joan sells original artwork and prints in her shop at Etsy, ttgart.etsy.com. She has been selling online for about two years. My favourite piece by her would have to be the print set "Triptych Red White Blue Birch Trees"

Joan sells a variety of works, appealing to a very wide variety of audiences. Her gorgeous works are very bright and colourful, and will bring light to any room.

Joan also has another Etsy site, SimplyModern, where she sells graphic art prints and notecards, and she's currently developing a web page: ttgart.com. She also has a blog 'Artful Escapes', where you can check out new listings and follow Joan's artistic development.

Etsy Feature: Paper Planet

I came stumbling upon PaperPlanet one day - I think I found it in a treasury, I can't exactly recall now. But it had an original idea - completely original! I had never seen some of the products offered there in any other Etsy store. So it definitely deserved a feature!!

Paperplanet was created by Sherry in Pennsylvania, using a very Eco-friendly concept towards her artwork. Opening only 5 months ago, the store is already a success and is making it's mark in Etsy.

Sherry offers a wide variety of nature inspired art, including note and gift cards, bookmarks, magnets, coasters, pins and framed botanicals. My favourite items by far though would be the Earthlight candle holders.

Also, on one last note, Paperplant is now offering a wonderful sale: Sherry is offering two FREE pressed flower gift tags with every order during the month of July. You can see examples of tags here.

Elephants!

I just recently posted a new painting on Etsy last week. I thought I would try my hand at some cute children's art. If you click on the image, you'll be brought to it's listing. :)
I also went to see Harry Potter last night, and Transformers in the morning (for the second time)...I'm a geek I know, but I've seen it twice before my boyfriend has - it's great, it's not even from my age, and as of now, I'm more 'hardcore' about it ahah.

I'm also going to have a sister shop opening up soon, PinkKiwi where I will be selling homemade jewelery. I'm pretty excited to get it going, but I'm working up an inventory right now, so that there will be more then just one item in there. It should be up in the next week or so.

Feature: Pretty Beads on Etsy

Etsy has many talented jewelry artist. Two of which I noticed were roccadesigns and ggsexclusives

Both artist's jewelry are very affordable and definitely work a look. All images are clickable and linked to each artist's listing in their Etsy shop.

Roccadesigns is run by Caroline Estrada., who is centralized in Atlanta, GA. Her modern jewelry design caught my eye with is gorgeous bright colors and the combination of simple bead elements. She also has a blog: http://roccadesigns.blogspot.com/

GGsexclusives is run by Ginny Moore, in Batavia, Ohio. She creates her jewelry from hand-crafted artisan beads, which she also sells separate as supplies, so her pieces are truly unique down to the beads. She also has a line for pets, where 10% of all proceeds go to two local charities - it can get better then that: buying beautiful pieces and helping out those poor animals in need; it just feels so good to purchase those pieces knowing the money is helping out. Ginny Moore's blog is: http://ggsexclusives.com/whatshappening/

Prints!

I had been hoping for some time to create a stronger prescence on Etsy, and so I have finally decided to start selling prints on Etsy. They are very affordable, and are of recent watercolor paintings. If you would like a print that is not posted on the site, please let me know, and I'm sure we could arrange something :)

Clicking on the images below will bring up the store listing.

New Blog! Welcome one and all!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog.

Here I will post my artwork and prints as they become available, but I will also showcase different Etsy artist's either weekly or daily - I'm not yet sure how often I can update. For those who don't know, Etsy is a site where crafters and artists can post and sell handmade goodies. It's great to find one-of-a-kind pieces at very affordable prices.

But first before all that exciting stuff, I'll primarily be working on my blog's design, so please come back soon to check out some new and exciting artists!
