Breast Cancer Awarness!

I'm going to be listing a new painting tomorrow, "The Hope Tree" - I just didn't want to until I was able to get a scan to tell everyone about it. As you can tell from the picture here, the digital camera just couldn't do the job this time.

I did this painting to help my roommate, Sarah, raise money for Breast Cancer research. I've already personally donated, but I thought that this painting not only would help raise funds, but it would also raise awareness to all those who see it! All proceeds of this painting is going to her and her team so that they can walk in "The Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting the The Princess Margaret Hospital" in Toronto Ontario. You can see her page, and her personal and team progress here: Click me! Her team is called "Lawlor's Chaos". You can also read about her personal story and why she chooses to walk. As well, for those Facebook junkies - Sarah has a facebook group that you can join: here.

Limited edition prints will also be made from this painting. This is the first time that I'm doing a limited edition set, as well as the first time I'm conducting a sort of fundraiser. All prints will be signed and numbered. I'm not sure yet how many I will be doing, but I'm thinking along the lines of 50. I will also be making cards out of them, and selling them in sets of 4. These cards will not be limited edition.

Sarah walks on September 5-7th, so we have until then to raise enough money to help her team walk - if not more! It is definitely going to a great cause. I will be tracking the progress of how much money is raised through this painting, and how much money Sarah has raised, as well as her team as a whole on the right side of my blog. Check back often!

On one last note, I just want to point out and emphasis (so that there's no confusion)...this is not directly affiliated with the Princess Margaret Hospital or and affiliates of the Breast Cancer Research / Fund raising team.

Tree Linocut Postcards

I just posted these little dearies in my artbyangie store, they're perfect for letters to penpals, and for little notes to friends! They come with envelopes, so there's no need to worry about them getting wrecked in the mail. If you want to send them without an envelope in the mail, they're stiff enough for that too! Come give them some love! ♥ Angie

School School, almost done!

So, I'm graduating from University this year....April 25th at 5pm is the exact date and time that I will be done (not including the graduation ceremonies, but there's no studying or "school work" for that lol). It's exciting, but scary! I will b a lot of hard work for a jumble of words, isn't it funny how that all works out? hehe

As my next plan of action, I applied to college for Radiology...so really, I'm not done school...As of now, I'm accepted to Cambrian college in Sudbury; and I'm wait listed for my first choice of school: Fanshawe College in London. Fingers crossed that I get to stay in London, but if not - then I'm packing it up to the big Nickle (where my parents live, and will probably provide food and delicious home cooked meals on weekends when I visit them).

It'll be another three years, but only 1.5 of those years will be "in-class"; the rest, I'll be in the clinics playing with the technology....not playing, learning. But I hope I enjoy it so much that it doesn't seem like work.....now you are all scared to get x-rays for fear that I'll be the one doing them in 3 years lol. The Con: I'm away from my boy....sigh....just gotta cross fingers I get into London.

Etsy Love: PrettyRaccoon

Simply put, I love PrettyRaccoon! Her clothes are always very unique and definitely wearable at any occasion - casual or formal; it just depends on how you wear them!

From top left to bottom right: Chandelier one shoulder, yellow; Ship boat print tshirt, Sea blue; Seagull top shirt, deep red; Tree print green tie top, Forest green and heather gray.

I found pretty raccoon many moons ago when a fuchsia shirt with puffy sleeves caught my eye. That shirt has long since been purchased, but I still check up on her store on a regular basis to see all the new goodies that she has.

Even better, PrettyRaccoon is based in Toronto, Ontario - a fellow Canadian (I love finding Canadians on Etsy, it's like finding a little bit of family). PrettyRaccoon carries clothing for women and men, as well as some staple accessories; such as scarfs and totes.

Etsy Feature: marmar

Today I'm featuring lovely jewelry and silver / enamel creator Mark Poulin, owner of the Etsy shop marmar. His silver jewelry is adorable, and his enamel pieces are truly one of kind.

It's hard to decide on four pieces to showcase, but Spouts, his silver necklace of a cute little whale, was my favourite from his shop, hands down!

From top left to bottom right: Spouts, sterling silver necklace; Robin and Orange, sterling silver and enamel set; Sunny Daisy Earrings, sterling silver and enamel; and Love Nut, sterling silver enamel.

The Love Nut and Robin and Orange pieces are actually reversible too!! So it's two pieces in one, how awesome is that? Love Nut actually has a cute little alien on the other side!

Inspiring Music: "New Soul" - Yael Naim

So I thought I would add a new "component" to my blog - inspiring music. I know this song has been plastered over the television because of the new, snazzy 'Mac air'...but I don't care, I still like it! (I even loved Fiest - but I know of her before mac used her). I must say, that Mac has a great taste in music; I like the music from Telus' commercials too. But anyways, here's her wonderful song....it makes me want to paint :) Enjoy!

Pounce Feature: LenaKotliarker

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but I thought that I'd start of this week with my Pounce Feature! This week, I'm featuring Etsy artist Elena Kotliarker, from Israel!

The colour in her whimsical paintings caught my eye, and so I have favourited her this weekend to feature her this week! She uses an encaustic method in her painting, where she puts down layers of wax and paint together to create original, and beautiful pieces of art.

Seen here are her paintings (top left to bottom right): Jordan River, The Flower Glade (detail), Blue Butterflies (detail), Alef-Bet.

Her lovely paintings are sure to light up any room!

Etsy Feature: St. Patricks Green!

In the spirit of St. Patrick's day on the 17th (even though it was technically moved this year because of lent - google it for more information), I decided to make a treasury dedicated to green - because green is my favourite colour!

This painting by NancysView is so gorgeous. I really enjoy how she used sheet music for the tree trunk, and how the background is heavily textured. This original mixed media oil painting is called Sing Green.

These leafy leather earrings, by hollyhawk, are by a fellow Canadian artist, based in Victoria, BC! These earrings have a lovely green stamp pattern on them, with a rivet on each, which I personally think adds a lot of interested to these earrings.

I always forget things when I got shopping, so this bird shopping list by boygirlparty would be perfect for me! The birdie at the bottom corner of this is just too cute, and definitely beats the scraps of paper that I usually use!

This four-leaf clover necklace by insanejellyfish is perfect for St. Patricks Day - and any other day when you need a little extra luck! This soldered green pendent, with a clover charm is so pretty, and it comes with a chain.

Show-and-Tell

So I've recently received a lot of packages in the mail, which I have failed to share with all of you!!! So this is my Show-and-Tell post :D.

First off, yesterday, I received my soap order from GudonyaToo. I've ordered from this Etsy seller before, and loved her stuff! This time I got their "Apples and Oranges" and "Mocha Razz Latte Scrubby" bars of soap. Not only did they get shipped so fast, but they are huge bars! I tried the mocha razz latte bar in the shower last night, and it was amazing!!! I have really dry skin, and I am always in need of a good, deep scrub - well, the coffee grounds in this bar scrub like you wouldn't believe! I can't wait to try the Apple and Oranges bar, but I'm in the dilemma where I just want to keep using the scrubby bar over and over and over again. I'll definitly order from GudonyaToo again, but I think I want to try their deodorants and body wash.

Next are my orders from Charliemotel. I bought her stationary set, Tea makes everything better - because honestly, it does! I also purchased a magnet set, which she had done in collaboration with heyprettycupcake. The stationary set was so beautifully packaged, and was shipped so quickly, considering it was coming out of the UK to Canada! The paper that she uses for this product is very lovely too! The writing paper had a nice texture too it, and it's fairly thick, so I can use it as a card if I wanted to. The envelopes were of a lovely brown material. It just had a very rustic feel to it because of the colours and textures. The magnet set that I got was just too cute! I love them so much. They included the pieces: I like you, Notice me, and Make a wish. Wonderful quality all round!

I've also gotten a lovely candle from ajscountrycottage a while back in the mail. I was scared of ordering something that would scent my room through the mail, not really knowing how it would really be. I ordered Citrus Lily Soy Candle - and it was a lovely scent. It burns forever too! I still have about half a candle left, and I burn on a regular basis. I got into the soy candle crazy when my friend, Bree, bought me one for Christmas. They burn longer then normal candles, but it was mostly the fact that they're safer that I really like, since I have a kitty and we all know cats like to get into the exact things that you don't want them touching!

Mini-Egg Madness

So as Easter approaches, the lovely Cadbury mini-eggs come out - how I love thee!

To my excitement, I came across these pendents, which resemble that chocolaty goodness that I hold dear to my heart and even closer to my stomach.

These egg pendents were created by missficklemedia on Etsy. Miraculously enough, between the time that I saw them and came into blogger to post, they had already sold! I should have known they wouldn't be around long, nor are the Cadbury mini eggs that I love.

Now I want mini eggs....an impossible craving to curb, thanks missficklemedia he he.

Etsy Feature: JDWolfPottery

JDWolfPottery has been in my favourite for a long time! They have such beautiful, colourful pieces....as well, many of their pieces have incorporated polka dots - my favourite! It's so hard to choose pieces for this article since I want to just put all of them in here, but I will try my hardest to put my favourite pieces :)

JDWolfPottery has also incorporated almost a rustic - antique - minimalistic - naturalistic look to her pottery decoration, and uses unique designs which can be easily spotted on Etsy.

Their work is also very function, as I'm sure you can see from the images that I've included. Their all safe for food - using lead-free products, and can be placed in the microwave, dishwasher and oven. So you can choose whether you want to display your piece completely as art, or use it every day, or both! Now, isn't functional art simply awesome!?

JDWolfPottry has been featured in a number of blogs, and has become a very established Etsy seller. She also gladly ships internationally - which makes me happy for my one day future purchase :)

Etsy Feature: Lurearts

I first spotted Lurearts on the front page of Etsy many moons ago, her beautiful ceramic ring caught my eye, and I knew that I had to heart it in order to blog about it in the future...and here I am tonight, blogging about this wonderful artist.

Lurearts creates a variety of pottery and ceramic objects, including mugs, soap dishes and magnets. But what I really love is her rings, and the lovely designs on them. She also uses very fitting, earthy colours on her pieces and gives them a rustic glow.

My favourite is her Oooooh Baby Ceramic Ring, which I loved firstly for it's pattern and secondly for it's beautiful colours.

Lurearts also has a blog where you can read about her daily dabblings.

Pounce Feature of the Week: Jessica Simanowski

Jessica Simanowski just very recently opened up a shop on Etsy, selling original mixed media paintings.
"I dreamwalked them all"

Her paintings are very colourful and whimsical, and she includes a little "story" for each one. For example, for the painting "When the rabbit comes out of its hole":

"One day the rabbit came out of it`s hole after it had gained enough courage, sensitive as it was, stumbling through sadness, feeling so uncomfortable in this cruel and harsh world. And as it made the first step out of it`s hole, magic appeared. Everything that had been grey and dead before turned into such sweetness of love and comfort, blossoming in such innocence and now the rabbit understood that reality reacts to perception."

"When the rabbit comes out of its hole"

This lovely artist also has a sister store on Etsy, where she sells felted products and plush monsters.
